If the latest news is to be believed, the US Department of Justice (DOJ) has launched Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7) , a sweeping effort to crack down on Hamas’ global and domestic networks. This marks a historic turning point in how the US government, under the Trump administration, deals with terrorism – not just in the Middle East, but also on American soil.

What JTF 10-7 aims to achieve

The alleged plan includes:

  • Global Manhunt for Hamas Leaders: Wanted and Extradition Requests for Ali Baraka, Khalid Mashal and Other Senior Hamas Figures Allegedly Hiding in Qatar.
  • Death penalty for terrorists: Prosecution of those responsible for the attacks on October 7, with the death penalty a possible penalty.
  • Cutting off Hamas funding: Investigation into USAID's involvement in funding Hamas, freezing of accounts, and crackdown on fake charities that channel money to terrorist organizations.
  • Elimination of Hamas supporters in the United States:
    • Arrests of individuals who finance or incite violence on behalf of Hamas.
    • Registration of pro-Hamas activists on federal watch lists.
    • Investigation of Hamas-affiliated student groups and expulsion of foreign students who support terrorism.
  • FBI raids and Homeland Security operations: Early morning raids by SWAT teams, surveillance of digital communications, and arrests of people with financial or ideological ties to Hamas.
  • Actions against universities:
    • Revocation of visas for foreign students linked to pro-Hamas activism.
    • Federal charges against individuals who incite violence against Jews or spread terrorist propaganda.
    • Investigation into university funding with links to pro-Hamas organizations.

Why Don't Sweden and the EU Take Similar Measures?

While the US seems to be taking a strong step, Sweden and the EU remain passive. Why? Why does the EU tolerate demonstrations where extremists openly call for the extermination of Jews? Why do European governments continue to fund NGOs that have been exposed as having links to Hamas?

Sweden in particular has become a haven for radicalism. We have seen pro-Palestinian protests degenerate into violence, Jewish students harassed, and radical mosques operating freely. The Swedish government should ask itself: If the US can launch an operation like JTF 10-7, why can’t we? Why should Sweden allow our streets and universities to become platforms for extremism, while the US actively combats it?

What do you think?

Do you agree with Trump's actions on this issue? Should Sweden and the EU carry out a similar crackdown on Hamas supporters operating in our own countries?
